Being from the US gave me a different perspective as for what to expect from University life. As a Computer Studies graduate from City University, I can say the program gave me the skills and the opportunities I needed to make my career in IT a reality. This program provided me with a solid background in several different fields of IT that makes a difference for me everyday.
This programme helped me a lot especially the 1 year placement. During this placement year, I learned how to apply my computer knowledge and theory into practice and it also helped me to adapt to the working environment more easily. This helped me to get a job pretty quick after graduation.
The specific technical knowledge we learnt at the CS Department is definitely useful, yet more valuable is the social and developing skill sets: time management, problem solving, professionalism, effective learning, vivid presentation and care for others. With the broad range of experiences it offers, the Department is a wonderful place to grow with these skills which turned out to be the paving stones in my fruitful pursuance of teaching profession.
The sandwich programme gave me a solid foundation in logical thinking, critical analysis and profession insight into the commercial world which prepared me well for a career in finance.
CityU CS department armed me with adequate IT concepts and skills for the competitive world. There are also many activities, such as overseas exchange scheme, international programming contests and study tours, provided by the department for our whole person developments. The university life in this energetic environment has always bee fruitful and joyful to me.
